A Night with Mr. Sali

Posted by Adam Graham on October 31, 2006

From Left to Right: Myself, Id. Rep. Bill Sali, Sen. Larry Craig, and Norm Semanko.

On Monday night, I went out to a meet and greet for Bill Sali out in Eagle. He’s been having a bunch of these events recently and I could have gone to them, but I’m not huge on spending gas money.

This one I went to partially because of who was hosting it: Norm Semanko, one of Bill Sali’s primary opponents. I also wanted to give some encouragement to the candidate. We also had a very special guest, Senator Larry Craig (R-Id.) was present along with his lovely wife.

I’m not going to go into everything that happened, but I’m happy to report that Mr. Sali was in excellent spirits tonight. His focus right now is definitely on turn out and getting as many people as possible out to the polls. If he can connect as well with the majority of voters, as he did with the people in that room. he’ll be well on his way to Congress.

Norm Semanko, our gracious host deserves special kudos for his willingness to help out a former primary opponent in the general election. He said he didn’t consider it an extraordinary thing to do but rather the “right thing” to do.

I’ve been impressed with Norm Semanko in the way he’s carried himself since not winning the primary in May. He chose to keep his focus on what’s best for Idaho, and he’s just shown commendable grace and class.
