Slamming Deceptive Calls

Posted by Adam Graham on March 3, 2007

Right-mind posts this AP article:

A bill in the Idaho House would require political and charitable organizations at the start of every automated call to disclose who is behind the message, and how they can be reached. Sponsors say giving those on the other end of the line more information allows them to choose to listen further – or hang up.

Now Dale asks if this is a violation of free speech or legitimate regulation. I think it’s definitely legitimate because no one’s restricting the calls from happening, we’re only requiring that they be made without pretense, so we know the truth and that is reasonable.
