The Politicians Don’t Get It On Immigration

Posted by Adam Graham on May 21, 2007

Is there anything more dense than the stance taken by the Washington Politicians on illegal immigration? People are angry as all get out and the GOP seems to have no clue that not only are they making a joke of our national security, they’re ticking off the base and they’ve ticked them off big time. There will be a price to pay if they don’t mend their ways.

We talk about this issue and more on tonight’s Truth and Hope Report.

  1. Adam,

I wouldn’t be citing Mark Steyn’s A to Z on the immigration debate. The man can’t tell the difference between a legal and illegal alien.

    http://thefloridamasochist.blogspot.com/2007/05/intellectually-lazy.html

Nurses come to the US LEGALLY in the thousands every year.

Steyn has serious problems. I seldom read his columns, but two of the last three I have read(All since March) have contained stupid mistakes. The man either can’t fact check, or knowingly puts out rubbish.

The only immigrants Steyn has any serious contact with are probably in his imagination. I’m married to a naturalized US citizen. My SIL and MIL also immigrated to this country and became citizens.

    Cheers,
    Bill

Well, Steyn’s point was that economists say that we are going to see nurses, plumbers, etc. coming across through this Amnesty. That we have nurses immigrating legally already strengthens Steyn’s point in context was that not everyone coming over would be nurses, plumbers and professionals. Steyn wrote in context:

“The economists may see the vast human tide as an army of much-needed hotel maids and farm workers and nurses and plumbers, but to assume that everyone on the planet sees themselves as primarily an economic entity is complacent and (post-Sept. 11) obtusely deluded.”

That we have nurses coming legally actual weakens the economist’s argument.
